Indianapolis history is quite interesting however it becomes even more wonderful when we look at what didn't make the race. This was Ken Hamilton's 1981 entry. Stock Block non-turbo Chevy. It was eventually sold to fund his son Davy's first drive at the 500.

Is there any race series that lets you do as you please? I mean no restrictions? U wanna strap a jet engine to that thing? Sure! An electric motor and its own mini nuclear power plant? Sounds like fun go for it!

I loved Indy when I was younger for nothing more than the creativity shown in the designs. It was so much a run-what-you-brung venue a California hot-rodder could build a contender in his garage.
